Cracked Gesso

Gesso is a traditional artist material mainly used as a preparatory surface for water gilding and artists canvasses. In our studio we make full sheets of gesso by applying many thins coats to a canvas. Shapes and textures are then created by hand cracking and sanding the surface before the gesso is painted, gilded, burnished and waxed. This intensive process results in a tactile, highly polished product which can then be applied to many surfaces lending itself particularly well to walls, furniture and frames.
Our samples library contains examples of the differing finishes gesso can be produced. Should you have any further enquiries regarding any of our products, please email using the sample code, alternativley please contact us with any other enquiries regarding any of our products and services.
